Campus Ministry at
King's College is outward looking and energetic. It serves not only students
of all religious traditions, but the faculty and staff as well. We encourage
students to participate in the worship services offered here, or, as appropriate,
in the churches and synagogues of their religious tradition. We offer,
ourselves or by affiliation, chances for ministry in many apostolates,
under the direction of student leaders.
The King's Campus Ministry depends on students to write the weekly religious
bulletin, to be Eucharistic Ministers, and lectors and to provide music
for Mass. We help organize programs that serve the poor, both in Appalachia
and in our own area.
Campus Ministry not only provides the physical setting, but, more importantly,
helps encourage the empowerment of the students and the growth of the
college's spiritual life. We celebrate the church seasons in a teaching
fashion, so that we might pass on the traditions of our Catholic faith.
We know that ministry cannot happen in a vacuum, separate from each other's
support. For this reason, we offer reflection days - periods of prayer
and thought - with picnics and parties.
We celebrate the Eucharist daily, Monday through Friday, at noon and for
the Lord's Day, three times, Sunday, 11 a.m., 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Each holy
day and special feast is celebrated as announced. The Sacrament of Reconciliation
is available during office hours, upon request, daily, or a half-hour
before Mass on the weekends.
The campus ministers can be reached through the college switchboard at
any time of the day or night.
