Associate Vice President's
Mission Statement
The mission of the associate vice president for student affairs is to
serve as a facilitator of dialogue that promotes the development of students
through the services and educational experiences offered. A primary component
of the development of students is interaction that promotes the exploration
of new ideas and the examination of the individuals contribution to the
community. The diversity of the college and local community in ideas,
beliefs, ethnic, racial, gender, creed, and sexual orientation is an asset
in the dialogue that promotes the development of students.
The associate vice president's office offers various services and programs
that promotes the development of students. The Student Code of Conduct
establishes norms of minimum behavior to enhance the educational and social
environment for students. The Student Judicial System provides the opportunity
for dialogue in the exploration of student behavior in the context of
the community and the opportunity for individual development. Student
Leadership programs provide various experiences for students not only
to develop leadership skills but to examine the ethical and moral role
that leaders have in their community. As an advocate for students who
may feel unheard on campus, the associate vice president enables them
to have a voice in the college.
The associate vice president for student affairs reports directly to the
vice president and assists he/she in all matters related to student affairs.
The associate vice president works in various ways to promote student
life on campus through student leadership programs, academic interventions,
off campus and commuter student issues, student activities, experiencing
the arts program, residence life and new student orientation. In collaboration
with associate vice president for academic affairs promote and support
the First Year Experience Seminar (FYE 010) and Multicultural and International
Affairs. The associate vice president works with students who are a minority
on campus due to being of a different creed or sexual orientation than
the majority of campus. They serve as the college chief judicial officer.
