Business Related
Organizations:
Accounting Association
The Accounting Association was created for and by students of King's College
majoring or minoring, or having an interest in the field of accounting
and the desire to further their education and exposure to accounting outside
the classroom, through meetings with students of similar interests. The
Accounting Association sponsors dinner meetings/socials which introduce
students to the opportunities available in accounting by inviting guest
speakers to share their experiences and advice. The Accounting Association's
popular fund-raiser is a car wash held once each semester. In conjunction
with the Student Government, the association performs actual audits of
each club/organizations' financial records at the end of the spring semester.
Economics and International
Business Club
The Economics and International Business Club is open to all students
who have an interest in exploring issues in economics and international
business outside the classroom setting. The club's purpose is to educate
its members, as well as other interested persons, about the opportunities
that exist in the fields of economics and international business. To this
end, the club sponsors lectures and invites guest speakers to meetings.
As one of its annual activities, the club tries to arrange a trip to a
major economic center, where the issues discussed in classes come alive.
Recent trips have included travel to New York, Washington, D.C., Montreal,
and Boston.
Finance Association
The purpose of the Finance Association is to provide a stimulus outside
the classroom for the discussion and promotion of finance and to the understanding
of the business world. Members have an opportunity to meet professional
business people and to tour professional work sites in Wilkes-Barre and
in a major metropolitan area. Membership is open to any registered full
or part-time students attending King's College.
King's College
Chapter of The Human Resources (SHRM)/Human Resources Management Association
The Human Resources Management Club is comprised of students who are either
majoring, minoring, or simply interested in Human Resources Management.
It creates opportunities to enhance our understanding of human resources
issues outside the classroom by promoting interaction with human resource
professionals and field trips to diverse work sites. The association has
a president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, and social coordinator.
Some of the association's activities include community service projects,
socials, and meetings featuring guest speakers. Funds for this organization
comes from membership dues, student government allocations, and fund-raisers.
It also publishes a newsletter at least once per semester to inform not
only Human Resources Management Association members, but also all students
who are Human Resources Management majors, of SHRM activities, as well
as other information pertinent to the field of Human Resources Management.
Marketing and Management
Association
The Marketing and Management Association is an organization that encourages
students who are majoring or minoring in business administration or marketing
to meet with one another to share their common interests and goals. The
association sponsors activities that inform students about their majors
and possible future careers. Members have the opportunity to attend seminars,
guest speaker dinners, participate in charitable services, fund-raisers,
field trips, and other social projects and gatherings.
Communications
Related Organizations:
Communications Club
Communications is one of the largest majors at King's College and one
that thrives on creativity. With this in mind, the Communications Club
is an organization whose goal is to heighten awareness of the enormous
opportunities available to today's communications student. The organization
has presented open houses of the college's media facilities, tours of
newspapers and television stations, guest speakers from the local media,
social gatherings, trips to New York City, innovative fund-raisers, charity
projects, a dinner that honors seniors at the end of the academic year,
and other experiences that supplement classroom teaching. Bi-weekly meetings
have allowed the club to continually expand in both size and spirit. Membership
is open to all interested students.

The Crown is the bi-weekly college newspaper which informs the King's
community about events affecting the campus. It publishes a comprehensive
16-page issue of news, editorials, features, entertainment and sports
during the academic year. Positions on The Crown are open to all students,
regardless of major. The positions include Editor-in-Chief, Managing Editor,
Business Advertising, and Circulation Manager, Copy Editor, section editors
and writers. The office is located in the lower level of the Sheehy-Farmer
Campus Center.

The Regis is the college yearbook. Its staff consists of two advisors
and six editors (co-editors-in-chief, co-associate editors and co-photography
editors). Participation is open to students who are interested in capturing
the memories, historical events and everyday activities of the current
academic year in photography, prose and design.
WKRC - The College
Radio Station - Office: Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center, Lower Level,

WKRC is the College radio station and provides programming year round.
Students serve as the radio station managers, program advisors and broadcasters.
The radio station provides a valuable service to the local community through
radio home visitor program that broadcast national and local news along
with local interest stories for those persons who are sight impaired.
Health-Related
Organizations:
Physician Assistant Student Society
The Physician Assistant Student Society of King's College brings together
junior and senior Physician Assistant majors to share medical experiences
and national trends regarding the PA profession. The club also exposes
students to the issues of medicine, diagnostics, therapeutics, patient
education, and professionalism. Membership in the Physician Assistant
Club is open to any registered PA student of King's College in the professional
phase of the program.
King's College
Student Chapter of the American
College of Health Care Executives (ACHE)
The King's College Student Chapter of ACHE is open to all students who
hold an interest in the exploration of current issues facing our nation's
health care industry. Our organization is comprised of, but not limited
to, mostly health care administration majors. The purpose of ACHE is to
provide a forum outside the classroom geared toward the discussion of
relevant topics of health administration and to provide a valuable resource
in the student's pursuit of realistic field experience. Members have an
opportunity to meet with health professionals and to work collaboratively
with area health providers on special projects, as well as tour area facilities.
Membership is open to all students, full or part-time, attending King's
College.
Internationally-Focused
Organizations:
Le Cercle Francais
Le Cercle Francais, or the French Club, as it's known at King's College,
is an organization of students who want to learn more about French culture.
There are no membership requirements other than interest. Our activities
include viewing French films (with subtitles) and planning trips or attending
performances that will enhance one's appreciation of the French culture.
All activities are planned with the hope of sharing and learning about
another country's way of living.
Spanish Club
The King's College Spanish Club is a sociocultural organization seeking
to increase interest in the language and cultures of the Hispanic peoples
and to create an awareness of what is happening to the peoples and nations
of the Hispanic world.
The club holds periodic meetings to plan and discuss a variety of activities:
special masses in Spanish throughout the year and open to the campus and
local communities. The club also sponsors a candygram sale, viewing Spanish
films, gatherings for Spanish conversations, and a trip to a Mexican restaurant,
and has hosted indigenous Hispanic people who share their heritage and
culture with students and faculty. The club is open to all students who
have an interest in Spanish or who simply want to become a part of a new
cultural experience.
Music/Fine Arts
Organizations:
The Campion Society
The Campion Society is an organization dedicated to promoting the fine
arts on King's campus. The group provides forums of expression such as
open readings and a film/discussion series which also are attended by
the public; sponsors day trips, social events, and service projects related
to the arts. Membership is open to all students regardless of major. If
you enjoy writing, painting, drawing or photography, from a creative or
appreciative aspect, this organization is for you.
The Dance Club
The King's College Dance Club foundation is having fun and relieving stress
of everyday life, while sharing the dance aspect of performing arts with
our community. Each month, the club invites an instructor from either
campus or the local community to teach a certain genre of dance, for example
classical ballet, swing dance, Irish step dancing, Latin dancing, and
yoga. Other weeks during the month the club holds stretching meetings
and one business meeting. The club invites all members of the college
community regardless of their past dance experience to join.

The Scop (pronounced Shope) is a student organization that promotes fine
arts on campus. The publication serves a showplace for the prose, poetry,
photography, and art work of King's students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
The magazine is overseen by two student co-editors and produced by organization
members at least once a year. All students with an interest in the fine
arts are encourage to join The Scop staff and submit works to be considered
for publication.
Politically Focused
Organizations:
Politics Society
The Politics Society of King's College is a non-partisan organization
open to students, regardless of major, who has an interest in the political
sphere of our society. Some of the clubs activities include voter registration,
working on various campaigns, holding 'Town Meetings' to address campus
and community issues and student lobbying day in Harrisburg. In addition
to these activities, the club sponsors speakers and events to inform students
of issues of local, state, federal, and international importance. The
funding for such events comes from allocations from student government,
fund-raisers, and student dues.
Service Organizations:
Blood Council
The Blood Council is a service organization aimed at serving the Wyoming
Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross as a governing board of students
to plan, organize, and hold three annual blood drives held on campus.
The blood drives are an important campus-wide activity involving students,
faculty members, administration, and staff. Membership in the council
consists of representatives from any club or organization on campus to
extend participation in each blood drive.
Circle K Organization
Circle K is the largest collegiate, international service organization
in the world today. Circle K works hand-in-hand with various Kiwanis Clubs,
Key Clubs, Builders Clubs, and other Circle K clubs throughout the states.
The main objective of Circle K is to provide services to our community
and campus through service projects and/or fund-raisers. The organization
also provides individual members, a chance to develop leadership and public
speaking skills, and to make new friends. The only membership criteria
is for one to be enthusiastic, energetic, and emotionally involved.
Emergency Response
Team (E.R.T.)
The Emergency Response Team (E.R.T.) is a service organization that responds
to the emergency medical needs of the King's College Community. The E.
R. T. is on duty when the nurse is not on campus. Members are certified
in either Basic or Advanced Emergency Medical Care. Meetings are conducted
every two weeks and include training once a month. One of our main purposes
is to educate the college community about the importance of first aid
and quick response time that is often crucial in a medical emergency.
Both students and faculty rely on the services provided by the E.R.T.
King's Escort Service
(K.E.S.)
King's Escort Service (K.E.S.) was established in 1989 to provide students,
staff and faculty with safe passage to on-campus locations and to the
off-campus parking lots. The service is composed of student volunteers
from all majors who provide escorts upon request. Each escort team, comprised
of two volunteers, is equipped with the following: two-way radio linked
directly to the college Security Department, personal alarm, jacket or
T-shirt, and flashlights. All members apply and are screened through the
Security Department. To request an escort, simply call the switchboard
at 826-5900 from an outside phone or "0" from an in-house phone.
Provide your name, location, and destination and an escort team will be
sent to you. Escort service is normally available Sunday - Thursday, from
7:00 p.m. - midnight.
Sigma Kappa Sigma
(EKE)
The purpose and objective of Sigma Kappa Sigma Fraternal Service Society
is to promote the highest caliber of Christian manhood typified by the
men of King's College. Every member of Sigma Kappa Sigma gives public
example of this Christian manhood through his service to the student body,
to the faculty and administration, to the community, and to the College
of Christ the King.
Sigma Kappa Tau
(EKT)
Through the years the sisters of Sigma Kappa Tau, have provided King's
College and its surrounding community, with a tradition of dedicated service.
Through friendship and devotion, Sigma Kappa Tau hopes to promote the
significance of community oneness as essential to a rewarding and complete
college learning experience.
Special Interests
Organizations:
Academy of Biological Sciences (Biology Club)
The object of this organization is to encourage biological research, to
discuss problems in biology, and to promote social functions. Activities
include charitable services, environmental projects, fund-raisers, and
speakers from graduate or professional schools and community service organizations.
Active membership is open to students registered in the natural sciences.
Chemistry Club
The King's College Chemistry Club seeks to promote interest in the chemical
sciences both among its members and among the general public. Club activities
will allow its members to experience interesting extracurricular programs,
such as industrial plant trips, visits to academic research facilities,
chemistry-related museums, etc. The club performs many chemical demonstration
exhibitions in local schools, geared towards varying age groups. There
is also a Halloween chemistry show for the public held in Burke Auditorium
each year. In addition, the Chemistry Club highlights a chemist's responsibility
to protect the environment through recycling programs and road cleanups.
While this club tends to primarily attract chemistry majors and minors,
it is open to any King's undergraduate with an interest in chemistry.
Criminal Justice
Association
The King's College Criminal Justice Association is an organization through
which students interested in Criminal Justice can express their common
interests. The Association is dedicated to sponsoring and participating
in activities that inform students of careers in the criminal justice
system. Members have the opportunity to attend lectures given by federal,
state, or local law enforcement agencies on topics such as job qualifications,
field experience, job opportunities and placement. The Association also
engages in charitable service projects, demonstrations, fund-raisers,
and Criminal Justice-related recreational activities. Membership is open
to full-time students with a major or minor in Criminal Justice as well
as other individuals interested in the criminal justice field.
Education Club
The Education Club is open to all students whose major or minor is Education
and who have an interest in working with children. The purpose of the
club's activities is to keep students abreast of the modern trends in
education. Activities include open meetings, fund-raisers, trips to state
conferences, guest speakers, and community services such as tutoring for
children. There is a club dinner at the end of the spring semester for
all active members and to honor the outstanding student teachers.
Environmental Awareness
and Outdoors Club
The Environmental Awareness and Outdoors Club is an organization that
unites students interested in environmental issues, outdoor recreation,
and nature. The group sponsors various outings and environmentally-related
service projects. It strives to promote environmental consciousness not
only among members, but also in the King's community. Membership is open
to all members of the King's community who share a concern for the earth.
Mathematics and
Computer Science Club
The King's College Mathematics and Computer Science Club is both a social
and academic organization. The club sponsors picnics and social gatherings
as well as talks and demonstrations in mathematics and computer science.
Many members of the club are also members of the King's College student
chapter of the Mathematical Association of America. As such, they normally
attend meetings of the Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware Section of the
Mathematical Association of America held each spring and fall in the Philadelphia
area.
Multicultural and
International Organization
The Multicultural and International Organization strives to bring students
from different backgrounds into a growing, cohesive group. The organization
is dedicated to promoting diversity awareness on campus and in the community.
The organization generally meets twice a month to discuss upcoming activities
including international dinners, entertaining local underprivileged children
(in turn, giving them diverse role models), supporting international holidays
such as Kwanzaa, and recognizing influential people such as Martin Luther
King, Jr. It also supports and attends multicultural conferences at other
colleges and universities that are usually comprised of forums and workshops
dealing with the current multicultural issues interlaced with various
entertainment and other social activities.
The organization is open to all students interested in helping spread
the message of diversity while learning about all different cultures in
a comfortable social atmosphere.
Pre-Law Society
The Pre-Law Society's primary purpose is to explore law as a career. To
this end, various guests involved in different areas of law are invited
to speak at monthly meetings in order to help students make a more informed
decision about law school and legal careers. The Society is open to students
of any major who have an interest in law.
Psychology Club
The purpose of the Psychology Club is to enable all members to obtain
a better understanding and appreciation for the science of psychology
and its contributions to all aspects of human endeavor. It also seeks
to provide insight into the professional opportunities to be realized
through the study of psychology. Activities include: open meetings, fund-raisers,
speakers, field trips, social gatherings, and charity projects. The Psychology
Club is open to all majors and students who attend King's College.
Residence Hall
Council
Residence Hall Council (RHC) is dedicated to improving residence life
for students through various floor competitions, fund-raisers, socials,
and community service projects. The club also addresses and acts upon
residents' concerns. It consists of an advisor and two elected representatives
from each floor in the residence halls. Those interested in becoming a
member of RHC should contact their R.A. or the Office of Residence Life.
Ski and Snowboard
Club
The King's College Ski and Snowboard Club offers all those in the King's
Community the opportunity to save money on skiing and snowboarding . The
club takes an annual trip to either Vermont, Colorado or Canada. Also,
weekend trips to the Pocono Mountains are very popular. Join the club
to get significant savings on skiing and snowboarding, meet new and exciting
people and to just have fun.
