Program
Philosophy
King's/St. Mary's Developmental Child Care Center is committed to providing
high quality educational care for young children and families. We strive to
provide an environment where children can live experiences that will provide
them with security, independence, responsibility, and creativity as they venture
out into the world.
We value that all children are created equal, and we respect that all children are individual. We teach tolerance and acceptance of others. We provide experiences that challenge children, yet allow them to succeed. We believe children learn by doing and are capable of decision making. We encourage a child's creativity and imagination; provide the praise and encouragement needed to build self-confidence, and allow children to build independence by providing opportunities that encourage self-help. We focus on language as a means of communication and problem solving. We encourage children to recognize and express their feelings, and to respect the emotions of others.

Our staff are a consistent and a constant support to both children and parents. We understand and empathize with the needs of children who are away from their parents. Our staff are caring and nurturing, and provide a safe, secure, home away from home. They understand that the children look to them for security and respect.
King's/St. Mary's Developmental Child Care Center also functions as a model early childhood environment for the students of King's College. We offer students quality field experiences with young children and teachers within the center.
