"KING'S ALUMNUS MARY LOU PEREZ ZERFOSS

NAMED ANNUAL PHONATHON CHAIRPERSON

September 9, 2005– Mary Lou Perez Zerfoss is chairperson of the 31st Annual King’s College Alumni Phonathon. As a volunteer for many years, Zerfoss knows the challenges of raising money in these difficult times, but says, “The King’s College Alumni have a ‘giving tradition’ of supporting their alma mater in good economic times as well as during times of national disasters. They find ways to continue to support King’s and give aid where it is needed. I’m counting on their commitment and generosity to help us reach our $460,000 Phonathon goal.”

Zerfoss is the Director of the Foster Grandparent Program at the Luzerne County Area Agency on Aging.  “Her experience in working with volunteers is definitely an asset, “said Louise Wasserott, Director of Alumni Relations. “Over 180 alumni volunteers will be working the phones, calling fellow alumni. Our 23 percent alumni giving rate is above the national average, but we are looking to increase the percentage this year.”

The Alumni Phonathon begins Sunday, Sept. 11 and continues Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays until the final wrap-up night on Sunday, Sept. 25. A buffet dinner is served to volunteers at 5:00 pm each evening and calling begins at 6:00 pm and ends at 9:00 pm. Alumni interested in becoming a volunteer can call the Alumni Office at 570-208-5879.
