ELIZABETH STELLA OF KING'S COLLEGE
NAMED McGOWAN SCHOLAR
July 15, 2005 – King’s College junior
Elizabeth Stella is recipient of the full-tuition William G. McGowan
Scholarship for the 2005-06 academic year. Stella is majoring in international
business and Spanish.
Stella, from Exeter, Pa., is a member of the Aquinas Society, the King’s
College honor society; and Epsilon Chi Omicron, the international honor society
in International Business. She will study in Rome, Italy, this summer as part of
the King’s College-John Cabot University Study-Abroad program. Stella
completed an internship with Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania last
summer.
The scholarship is a full-tuition award named in honor of William G. McGowan
’52, a native of Ashley who went on to a successful business career as the
founder and chairman of MCI Telecommunications.
The McGowan Scholarship is awarded to full-time students who are pursuing their
primary major with the McGowan School of Business, are entering their senior
year at the college, have achieved a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0, and have submitted
an essay on the contributions McGowan made to today’s business world or to the
telecommunications field. In addition, candidates for the scholarship must be
nominated by at least one faculty member of the business school.
