KING'S REV. PAUL FARBER MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
RAISES
$40,00 FOR SCHOLARSHIPS
July 19, 2005 –King’s College recently
held its annual Rev. Paul Farber, C.S.C., Memorial Golf Tournament at Mill Race
Golf and Camping Resort in Benton. An all-time record of 140 alumni and friends
participated in the tournament, which is celebrating its 21st year.
Co-chairpersons, Kathleen Daskalakes and Bill Runner, and the Century Club Golf
Committee announced that the event raised just over $40,000 for the Farber
Scholarship Fund, which benefits students with financial needs.
On behalf of Sodexho Campus Services, Peter Stark, general manager of dining
services for Sodexho, presented a check for $20,000 to King's College. Of the
total, $10,000 goes to the Rev. Paul Farber Scholarship Fund and $10,000 will go
to the Annual Fund Community Campaign. Sodexho is the provider of food and other
campus services at King's College.
This year’s tournament championship went to Dr. Charles Blewitt’s team. The
event featured a captain and crew format, and the day concluded with cocktails,
dinner and an awards ceremony.
Father Paul Farber, for whom the tournament was named, was a Wilkes-Barre native
and director of annual giving programs at King’s. He passed away while on a
missionary activity in Peru.
