Local artist Joel Shambe opens King’s Widmann Gallery, Aug. 23

August 16, 2010 – Local artist Joel Shambe attempts to create paintings with a sense of narrative that invites viewer to not only witness but to become a participant in his work. His original works will be on display in the “Recent Works” exhibition held in the Widmann Gallery, located in the Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center at King’s College, from Aug. 23 through Sept. 17.

Shambe will discuss his work from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 3, in the Widmann Gallery. The Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center is located between North Franklin and North Main streets. The exhibition is free and open to the public. Gallery hours: Mon. through Fri., 9 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.; Sat. and Sun., as arranged. The Gallery is closed on national holidays and during scheduled breaks throughout the academic year.  

Raised in northeastern Pennsylvania, Shambe studied illustration at Luzerne County Community College and painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he currently serves in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard and resides in Philadelphia.
