For Immediate Release 14 Wallenpaupack Area High School students receive National French Contest awards May 21, 2010 – The National French Contest, sponsored by the Northeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of French, concluded with 54 chapter and 25 national winners from a pool of 281 elementary to high school student entrants from public and private schools in the Wyoming Valley, Scranton, Pocono, Hazleton, and South Williamsport areas. Dr. Margaret Corgan, chairperson of the department of foreign languages at King’s, is president of the local chapter and director of the program, which began at King’s in 1969. In that time, more than 24,000 students have registered for the test at the College. Continuing a tradition that began in 1977, King’s College hosted a dinner for area national and chapter French contest winners and guests in the Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center. Wallenpaupack Area High School winners of the National French Contest are: Megan Buchanan, Nicole DelRosso, Gihan Elashram, Jessica Flynn, Kassondra Gregor, Brenna O’Connor, Sarah Radzieski, Francesca Rizzo, Jon Rothman, Hannah Stack, Joseph Stenger, Natasha Tereschak, Viktoria Thompson, and Matthew Wildenberg.
