Kids at King’s to hold summer classes for students in grades 1-8

May 12, 2010 - The Ninth Annual Kids at King’s Program will offer more than 90 classes this summer for students entering grades one through eight.  The program, in which classes meet for Monday through Friday sessions for two-and-a-half hours a day, is a component of the College Discovery Program at King’s.

Classes will be held the weeks of June 21 and 28, July 12, 19 and 26 and August 2.  Each session has classes beginning at either 9:30 a.m. or 1 p.m.

Classes in such diverse areas as cooking, arts and crafts, theatre, computers, manners, ballroom dancing, and magic are among those being offered.   A discount is offered on all registrations received before June 1.  On registrations received after June 1, a discount is offered for students taking multiple classes.

Classes for children entering first and second grades include “It’s a Jungle in Here,” “Creepy Crawlers,” “Under the Sea,” “Tasty Science,” “Manners are Fun” and “Insects, Bats, Dogs, and Cats.”

Classes for students entering third through fifth grades include “American Girl,” “Cosmic Kids,” “Brain Freeze,” Treasures of the Deep,” “Jewelry Making Goes Green” and “Sing Your Heart Out.”

Students entering sixth through eighth grades can choose classes including “Experience the Civil War,” “The Magician’s Craft,” “3D Made Simple,” European Delights,” “Acting Workshop” and “Chemistry is ‘Chool.’”

Several classes, including “Ballroom Blitz,” “Fun with Food,”  “The Secret Life of Weird Creatures and Bizarre Beings,” “Cake Boss, King’s Style” and “Hey, I’m on the Radio” are offered for more than one age group.
