For Immediate Release 2 Delaware Valley High School students named national French contest winners May 21, 2010 – The National French Contest, sponsored by the Northeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of French, concluded with 54 chapter and 25 national winners from a pool of 281 elementary to high school student entrants from public and private schools in the Wyoming Valley, Scranton, Pocono, Hazleton, and South Williamsport areas. The National French contest winners from Delaware Valley High School were national winner Nicolle Herzog and chapter winner Joseph Malzahn. Dr. Margaret Corgan, chairperson of the department of foreign languages at King’s, is president of the local chapter and director of the program, which began at King’s in 1969. In that time, more than 24,000 students have registered and taken the test at the College. Continuing a tradition that began in 1977, King’s College hosted a dinner for area national and chapter French contest winners and guests King's College is a Catholic College sponsored by the Congregation of Holy Cross. |
