For Immediate Release Sarah Babinsky of Scranton Prep receives National French Contest award May 21, 2010 – Sarah Babinsky of Scranton Preparatory School was the recipient of a chapter award for Level 1A in the National French Contest, sponsored by the Northeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of French. The contest concluded with 54 chapter and 25 national winners from a pool of 281 elementary to high school student entrants from public and private schools in the Wyoming Valley, Scranton, Pocono, Hazleton, and South Williamsport areas. Dr. Margaret Corgan, chairperson of the department of foreign languages at King’s, is president of the local chapter and director of the program, which began at King’s in 1969. In that time, more than 24,000 students have registered for the test at the College. Continuing a tradition that began in 1977, King’s College hosted a dinner for area national and chapter French contest winners and guests in the College’s Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center.
