The King’s Players set to perform ‘Stop the World - I Want to Get Off’

April 9, 2010 – The King’s College Players will continue the theatre season with a production of the thought-provoking tale about the fleeting nature of worldly success, “Stop the World - I Want to Get Off,” at 7:30 p.m. April 14-17 in the King’s Theatre, located in the Administration Building on North River Street.

“Stop the World – I Want to Get Off” is a musical performance with book, music and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley. The play is set at the circus, where the hero of the show, Littlechap, tries to regain control of his life.

After marrying his boss’s daughter, Littlechap becomes dissatisfied with his worldly fate and falls into the arms of various women in search of happiness. In the twilight of his life, he comes to realize that what he always had – the love of his wife – was more than enough to sustain him.

King’s Theatre Department cast members include David J. Nat, Plains (LittleChap); Stephanie Gawlas, Hanover Twp. (Ilse); and Elsbeth Williams, Wantage, N.J., (Evie).

Ticket prices are $10; students/senior citizens, $5. For more information or to reserve tickets, call the box office at (570) 208-5825 or e-mail boxoff@kings.edu.
