King’s Hosts Upcoming Speaker: Dr. Theodore Schick

March 4, 2010- King’s College will be hosting Dr. Theodore Schick to discuss “How to Think about Weird Things” at 3:30 pm Wednesday, March 24, in the Burke Auditoriumof the McGowan School of Business. The event is open to the public free of charge.

Dr. Schick will be talking about why people believe in “weird things” such as ghosts, ESP, and Big Foot; the meanings of such beliefs; how people can use reason to get the best explanation and his “SEARCH” method to avoid believing weird things.

Dr. Schick received a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and a doctorate in philosophy from Brown University. He is a professor of philosophy at Muhlenberg College, Allentown, and directs the Muhlenberg Scholars program. He is an author and of several textbooks including “How to Think about Weird Things.”

The event is sponsored by the King’s Socratic Society, philosophy department, and is supported by a Templeton Science and Religion Grant.
