For Immediate Release Dr. Linda Radzik to discuss ethics of forgiveness during free lecture at King’s March 15, 2010– Renowned ethics scholar and philosophy professor Dr. Linda Radzik will discuss the ethics of forgiveness and whether people who are not involved in a crime or wrong doing have the right to forgive the person who committed it during a free public lecture at King’s College at 7 p.m., Monday, March 22, in the Burke Auditorium, William G. McGowan School of Business, located on North River Street. During a presentation, titled “Moral Bystanders and the Virtue of Forgiveness,” Dr. Radzik often discusses public requests for forgiveness by using celebrity and politician public apologies as examples to explore whether or not it is right for people to be concerned with the welfare of others. An associate professor of philosophy and director of the Master’s Program at Texas A&M, Dr. Radzik works on moral issues at that arise in the aftermath of wrongdoing. She has written about the ethics of forgiveness, criminal punishment and collective moral responsibility. She is the author of the book, “Making Amends: Atonement in Morality, Law, and Politics,“ published by Oxford University Press. She earned her doctorate and master’s degree in philosophy from the University of Arizona, and bachelor’s degree with Highest Distinction and Highest Honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
