Local photographer Bill Tarutis to showcase environmental portraits in King’s Widmann Gallery
February 9, 2010 – Local photographer Bill Tarutis uses his experience as a college science professor to merge art and science in his photographs, particularly through the use of macrophotography and infrared imagery.
Tarutis will display a variety of works from his collection, including environmental “portraits” of people, plants and animals in the “Portraits of Our Environment: A Scale of Perspectives” exhibition from Feb. 22 through April 2 in the Widmann Gallery at King’s College.
Tarutis will discuss his work from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 19, in the Widmann Gallery in the Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center, located between North Franklin and North Main streets. The exhibition is free and open to the public. Gallery hours: Mon. through Fri., 9 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.; Sat. and Sun., as arranged. The Gallery is closed on national holidays and during scheduled breaks throughout the academic year.
Tarutis is a local freelance photographer and college science professor. He currently lives in Hanover Township with his wife, Mary Ann, and son, Billy.
