For Immediate Release
January 5, 2010 - King’s College was one of only 10 colleges and universities in the United States and Canada to receive a grant of collaborative computer software from DyKnow, an interactive educational technology company headquartered in Indiana. The grant includes 30 licenses for two DyKnow software packages, DyKnow Vision and DyKnow Monitor, as well as one year of server hosting and technical support from DyKnow. The grant also includes the use of a plugin that allows users to create content and initiate DyKnow sessions directly through PowerPoint. The software, which facilitates presentations over the Internet and can extend the use of collaborative workspaces, will be employed primarily by the King’s McGowan Hispanic Outreach Program. The software will be used for the existing High School Mentoring Program and by English as a Second Language classes for adults as well as by a new after-school program designed for Latino middle school students, titled Pathways to Success, which will begin this spring semester. The interactive software will also be available to various academic disciplines at King’s. King’s provides 440 public computers for daily instructional and general purpose use. All of the College’s regularly scheduled classrooms are equipped with either ceiling-mounted data/video projectors or large screen monitors and a computer. All classrooms are also multimedia-equipped. The DyKnow Vision and Monitor software packages recently received Awards of Excellence from “Tech & Learning” magazine. King's College is a Catholic College sponsored by the Congregation of Holy Cross. |
