Taizé: Prayer Around the Cross
This meditative communal prayer is celebrated in the style of the ecumenical community founded in Taize, France. It is held on Tuesday of Holy Week at 7:30 P.M. in the Chapel of Christ the King. This simple yet rich prayer experience is composed of sung mantra-like refrains, the reading of Scripture, prayerful silence and intercessions. The community gathers in dim lighting around the illuminated Cross of Christ. The assembly is welcome to venerate the cross--coming to kiss, touch or simply kneel before it bringing to it the burdens and wounds of our lives. The Chapel Choir leads the assembly in song.

"Stay with us, O Lord Jesus Christ, night will soon fall.  Then stay with us, O Lord Jesus Christ, light in our darkness."  Jacques Bertheir, Taize Community
