-
Placement Testing All incoming freshmen are required to take a writing, math, and grammar placement test. Transfer students will take the writing placement test only. Each test will determine if a student must take a preliminary course in each of these areas. See CORE 098, CORE 099, and CORE 110L for more information. NOTE: Calculators are NOT permitted.
-
Information Session This short information session will cover topics such as meal plans, resident and commuter questions, billing, payment plans, and financial aid. Parents and/or family members may attend this session while the students are taking their placement tests.
-
Advisement Session After the placement tests, each student will meet with an advisor to select classes for the fall semester. Parents are welcome to attend this session. During this meeting, the advisor will discuss the requirements for the student’s selected major and the general CORE requirements for graduation. To become familiar with the CORE courses, go to: Fall 2011 CORE Course Offerings. NOTE: Choice of courses is subject to availability.
Students should inform the advisor if they have taken any of the following:
- AP (Advance Placement) courses
- Courses at another college/university
- Courses at King’s College through the College Discovery Program.
- *It is preferred that all incoming students have any AP credits or college credits (King’s or other institutions) evaluated by the Registrar’s Office prior to their appointment to ensure proper advisement.
Students should inform the advisor if they are interested in any special programs listed below: (click on each for more detailed information)
- Honors Program (GPA and SAT requirement)
- Border Houses Program (Eligibility may depend on major)
- Student ID
