STUDY ABROAD PROGRAM - STUDENT EXPERIENCES

Maria Pilar Lizasoain
English Literature & Professional Writing
Class of 2009
Arcadia Summer Internship Program
London, England

How did you select your Study/Intern Abroad location?

I just knew that I wanted to travel.  I thought London would be a wonderful city to study and intern in since it is so multicultural and has so much character.  I thought Arcadia offered a great internship abroad program.

Why did you want to study or intern abroad?

I wanted to meet new people and see what it would be like to get out of my comfort zone.  Also, I thought interning abroad would be a great experience that would enable me to learn more about working abroad.

What was the highlight of this experience?

I absolutely loved London.  There was always so much to do and so much to see;  there was never a dull moment.  I met so many people from all over the world.

What surprised you the most?

I was surprised to meet so many students studying abroad in London during the summer.

How has (or how might) this experience affect your major and future career?

I definitely want to work abroad in the future and travel more.

What would you tell students considering studying or interning abroad?

You will regret not studying abroad.  I actually regret not staying for a full semester or even an entire academic year.  I was in London for eight weeks and I definitely did not want to leave.
